Rize™ One honored as CES 2017 Innovation Awards Honoree

We received a great honor last week at CES 2017 in Las Vegas, NV.  The Rize One 3D printer, based on our patented APD (Augmented Polymer Deposition) 3D printing technology, was selected from among scores of entries as a 2017 CES Innovation Awards Honoree. Only three other 3D printing companies received this distinction.

The annual CES Innovation Awards celebrates outstanding product design and engineering in consumer technology products. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product categories, including 3D printing. Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, unique/novel features present and how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace.

No, Rize One is not a consumer product. In fact, it was the only industrial-class 3D printer recognized for this honor. That is because Rize will have enormous impact on the products and services that consumers, well, consume.

Rize One was designed to be large enough to print 80% of parts, yet compact enough to sit on a desktop. APD involves the simultaneous extrusion of our own compound of medical- and engineering-grade thermoplastic and jetting selective additives at each voxel (3D pixel) wherever they are needed to change material properties. So, for the first time, a 3D printer is capable of delivering parts with the same surface finish, quality, material properties and color as injection molded parts, on demand on the desktop, safely, cleanly and environmentally friendly.

Strong parts:
 Our thermoplastic is 2X stronger than ABSplus. Due to the way the material bonds during the printing process, it retains its isotropic properties, so that the parts have the same strength in all directions (X, Y and Z). And parts made with Rize One are uniquely watertight, so they can be used in medical applications, such as orthopedic surgery.
