A simple part that speaks volumes: Rize July Part of the Month

It’s just a small, simple strength bar, 3D printed on a Rize One 3D printer. What’s so special about this part that we selected it as our July part of the month?

Since the strength bar was built with our Rizium™ One material using Rize’s patented APD process, the part uniquely possesses uniform (isotropic) strength in the X, Y and Z axes. This means the part is twice as strong as one printed with ABSplus and far stronger than one printed with carbon fiber or micro-carbon reinforcement. A part is only as strong as its weakest point, so be sure to carefully research manufacturers’ strength claims and ask for independent lab-tested strength data for all axes for each material you are evaluating. This is critical if you need strong parts.

Another aspect of this strength bar part that’s not only cool, it’s incredibly useful, is the 3D printed text identifying the orientation in which this part was printed. Imagine you’ve printed strength bars in several orientations to conduct strength testing on a 3D printer manufacturer’s material. But since they don’t have voxel-level 3D printing capability, they cannot 3D print detailed text (or images) onto parts and therefore you can’t discern which part was printed in which orientation. We can; whether it’s part orientation, instructions, part or case numbers or an image, our Rize One 3D printer enables you to 3D print high-definition text and images anywhere on or inside the part.

Check out how fast, easy and clean it was to remove supports from this part, thanks to our Release One ink that’s jetted between the part and the support! We removed the support from all three strength bars in just 16 seconds, with bare hands at a desk.

The stats (for all thre bars printed together):

  • Print time: 1 hour 9 minutes
  • Support removal time: 16 seconds
  • Total part delivery time: 1 hour 9 minutes
  • Amount of material used: 12.6 grams of Rizium One filament
  • Part cost: $3.00
